My name is Michael Cuevas, but the world knows me as E-Sypha.
I wasn't handed an easy life. I grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts, where I learned a lot about survival before I ever learned about success. I've experienced loss, homelessness, addiction, incarceration, and moments when I questioned whether I would ever become the man I knew I could be.
Music became my voice when I didn't know how to express what I was carrying. It gave me a way to tell my story honestly—the pain, the mistakes, the growth, and the victories. Every verse I write comes from something I've lived. I don't rap to impress people. I rap because it's the one place where I never have to pretend.
I'm not here to convince anyone I'm perfect. I'm here to show what's possible when you stop running from your past and start building your future. Every scar has a story. Every setback taught me something. Everything I've been through made me who I am, and I wear that with pride.
I'm also the founder of Hood Pro Entertainment and the author of Beyond The Blocks: Michael's Story. Whether I'm making music, writing, mentoring, or speaking, my mission stays the same: to give people something real. If my story reminds one person to keep pushing, to believe in themselves again, or to make one better decision, then everything I've been through has a purpose.

More Than Music. More Than a Story.
I'm E-Sypha, an independent hip-hop artist from Lawrence, Massachusetts, and the founder of Hood Pro Entertainment. My music comes from real life—not imagination. Every verse I write is built from experiences I've lived, battles I've fought, and lessons I've learned. I'm not here to chase trends. I'm here to tell the truth and represent everyone who's had to fight their way through life.
Growing up in Lawtown wasn't easy. I lost my mother at a young age and spent years dealing with homelessness, incarceration, addiction, and obstacles that could have defined the rest of my life. Instead of letting those experiences destroy me, I turned them into fuel. Music became my therapy, my voice, and my purpose. Today, every song I release is meant to inspire people to keep going, no matter where they come from or what they've been through.
My latest EP, Lawtownz Best Kept Secret, represents where I've been, who I've become, and where I'm headed. This project features incredible production from Wiz Dakota, Star Select, AO Gordo, and Beats Planet, along with guest appearances from 9INEO, Tatone Solis, and Elk-E. Every person involved helped bring this vision to life, and I'm grateful for their contributions.
Outside of music, I'm also the author of Beyond The Blocks: Michael's Story and a community advocate dedicated to helping young people discover that there's another way to win. Whether I'm behind a microphone, speaking to youth, or working in my community, my mission stays the same: to show people that your past doesn't have to determine your future.
